Groucho Marx “You Bet Your Life” The Cigar episode Original broadcast date: February 17, 1954. On this program, 78 year old Mary M. Sackett, who’s father opened a gentlemen’s furnishings store in Hollywood in 1906, as one of the first merchants in the new town. She asked Groucho to not have a cigar lit during her appearance. Groucho reluctantly complied. George Fenneman is the programs announcer.
